The main features of the district are the Waterfalls, and the green rolling hills, and the views over the spectacular Illawarra Escarpment, as seen from various points east of the Village. The Illawarra Highway, above Macquarie Pass,  about 4 Kms east of Robertson, affords good views, but be careful to pull safely off the road.
Then there are unsurpassed views from the Illawarra Fly Treetop Walk, on Knights Hill.

The area is also famous for the special flora and fauna of the “Yarrawa Brush”, the cool temperate rainforest.
Also, on the sandstone plateaux south and north of Robertson are found very interesting examples of Sydney Sandstone bushland. Scenic drives are available along Tourist Road, through Kangaloon, back towards Bowral or Mittagong; or via Belmore and Fitzroy Falls, back to Moss Vale. You can also visit the historic and scenic Kangaroo Valley, by going via Fitzroy Falls.

The famous Barren Grounds is approximately 15 Km south-east along the Jamberoo Mountain Road (just before the road drops down the escarpment – so it is easily accessible from Robertson). Minnamurra Falls and Jamberoo village are close by, down the Jamberoo Mountain Pass. That road is not suitable for caravans and buses, but it is a popular driving road for car motor cycle touring groups.
